Our standard electronics use our own single-step high-torque stepper driver boards, driving a set of three MyDIYCNC 12V stepper motors, one for each axis. Geared to a ratio of 200 steps per revolution, this arrangement provides a high resolution of 4000 steps per inch, (0.00025 inch for each step, i.e. a quarter of a thousandth of an inch). For most applications this resolution is more than adequate, but for those who want a higher resolution we offer microstepping electronics as an upgrade. That upgrade can increase the step resolution to an amazing 0.00003 inches per step (32000 steps per inch).

This product contains our USB interface, a microprocessor-controlled board that generates the signals needed to drive our standard Desktop CNC machines under control of FabCAM, our desktop software application.

Designed for the easiest possible configuration and operation of our Desktop CNC Machines, this interface can also drive most conventional parallel port CNC machines (contact customer service with your machine specifics to verify compatibility).

By providing the CNC control signaling at a Db-25 connector this USB solution is not only backward-compatible with all past MyDIYCNC CNC Machines, but also other parallel-port CNC machines in need of a USB solution. 

PLEASE NOTE: 1. Our USB Solution is our USB Interface and FabCAM combined. The USB Interface will not work with any other CNC application other than FabCAM. Applications such as KCam and EMC2 require the presence of a hardware parallel port on the host computer.  2. MyDIYCNC Pinouts


FabCAM requires clean, correctly-formatted GCode (this means a separate line for each set of coordinates, each line beginning with the G command and spaces separating each axis coordinate). We recommend MeshCAM for generating toolpaths for your work, and the resulting GCode can be saved in FabCAM format (they provide a FabCAM post processor). FabCAM is also compatible with GCode formatted for Centroid and TurboCNC as they too require correctly-formatted GCode. Most GCode generated by CamBam also works with FabCAM.

The BigFoot Complete Turnkey System: A Precision Desktop CNC Machine delivered completely built, tested and ready for connection to your computer.
BigFoot is a large workspace version of our popular Sprite Desktop CNC Machine. We've taken our successful original DIY Desktop CNC Machine and redesigned those aspects that effect performance and capability to provide you with the most capable, versatile and cost-effective desktop CNC machine available.
New features and advancements include:

Our new and improved MyDIYCNC Desktop CNC Machine now includes precision CNC-milled aluminum parts throughout, vibration-isolating rubber feet, and our Upgrade Spindle incorporating ball bearing shaft, speed adjustment, built-in cooling fan and keyless 3-jaw chuck as standard.
As before, our CNC machines provide a native step resolution of 0.00025 inches (0.00635 mm) per step and our standard anti-backlash mechanism on each axis removes drit and provides high repeatability
This is a complete system as per our specifications. The standard system is a parallel port machine. Add the optional MyDIYCNC USB Solution to provide a USB-driven CNC machine that includes our CNC software FabCAM for PC, Mac or Linux systems. We include a DVD-ROM providing our collection of favorite free and demo CAM/CAD/CNC applications, including our own FabCAM along with sample GCode files and a library of our technical documents (see product pictures).  You will only need your choice of end mill and either the USB Solution upgrade or a PC port cable (currently parallel DB-25 M-F cable) if you go parallel.
All electronics, power supply, 12V spindle and instructions are included. The base parallel machine connects to your Windows or Linux/Ubuntu PC which you setup and configure as instructed with your choice of 3rd-party CNCsoftware application (we recommend KCam or EMC2, both on the DVD). The USB Solution is even easier! Install FabCAM, the CNC software we provide, plug your CNC machine to an available USB port on your Windows, Mac or Linux computer, load your GCode and start milling.
